Exam Results 2019
We are delighted for our Year 13 students who have achieved great success in their A Level studies.
Thursday 15 August was a very happy day with countless stories of individual success. It is never right to single out individuals when so many could be mentioned. However, we would like to congratulate students such as Hyka Shaikh who will study Medicine at UCL having achieved three A grades, Evie Berwick who achieved A*, A*, A* and goes to Camberwell for her Art Foundation before reading English Literature at Durham, Michael Adoasi who will read Maths and Financial Maths at Manchester having achieved A, A, B, Eve Evans Perks who achieved three A* Grades and will study Physics and Philosophy at Bristol and Lola Oliver who achieved A*, A, A, A and will study Mathematics also at Bristol University. Jodie Yates and Grace White will both be taking Art Foundation at Camberwell having achieved A*, A , A and A*, A*, A respectively. Ben Pike achieved the Cambridge Technical Qualification in Media with a starred Distinction and will be studying Filmmaking at Leeds Arts University, Alf Prowse takes Psychology at Durham having achieved A*, A, A and Laurine Mukoko-Kunda achieved A, B, B and takes Politics and International Studies at Warwick.
Jake Fenton achieved A*, A*, A and will read English Literature at Oxford. Hamish Duncan will also read English Literature, this time at Cambridge University, having achieved A*, A, B. The list goes on and we are aware that it would be possible to choose a huge range of names to mention.
While today was first and foremost about the students, we remain very proud of our academic achievements as a fully comprehensive school.
26% of all grades are at A*-A
51% of all grades are at A*-B
82% of all grades are at A* - C
These are very strong results, above national averages, and are a testament to the hard work of students, expertise of their teachers and consistent support from families.
Our Director of Sixth, Mr Follows said, ‘These are a brilliant set of results and really well deserved from a group of students who have worked hard, pushed themselves and really brought something special to our Sixth Form. They will leave big shoes to fill.’
There are many success stories for subjects such as Mathematics, English Literature and Art who had significant numbers of students achieving the very highest grades. Strong results can be found throughout the curriculum with impressive results in Chemistry, French, Spanish and Geography among many other subjects.
We wish our outgoing Year 13 every happiness and success as they embark on their next steps into adult life. We are rightly proud of their progress but also the way in which they applied themselves to culture, performance, politics and social action. We won’t try and hide our sadness that they are leaving but are very pleased with their future destinations.
