Computing
Our curriculum is built to nurture confident, responsible digital citizens who can understand and actively shape the digital world around them. We provide learning experiences that are accessible, challenging, and engaging—empowering students to use ICT creatively and productively.
We encourage curiosity and experimentation with technology, helping students explore how systems work and how to make them work for their needs. Through hands-on practice, they build confidence in using digital tools, write their own programs, and create high-quality digital content.
By teaching the key principles of Computing, we seek to demystify technology and offer insights into how software, hardware, and networks operate and communicate. This knowledge helps students make sense of the digital environment they engage with every day.
Our curriculum also develops essential, transferable digital skills that support learning across subjects and prepare students for success in a modern, tech-driven workplace. Students learn to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly, understanding their rights, responsibilities, and relevant laws such as the Computer Misuse Act.
Finally, students explore the possibilities of cloud-based technologies—learning to collaborate, create, and communicate effectively while using the cloud as a tool for innovation and productivity.
Our curriculum content is shaped by two key frameworks: the DfE National Curriculum and the Computing at Schools (CAS) progression pathways. At Key Stage 4, students can choose between studying GCSE Computer Science or BTEC Award Level 2 in Digital Information Technology. KS3 Computing is delivered on a carousel with DT.
KS4
The GCSE Computer Science course builds upon the learning and knowledge developed at KS3. Students will be able to combine their skills and knowledge from prior learning to:

Understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of Computer Science, including abstraction, decomposition, logic, algorithms, and data representation

Analyse problems in computational terms through practical experience of solving such problems, including designing, writing and debugging programs

KS5
The A Level Computer Science course builds upon the learning and knowledge developed at KS4. Computer Science at KS5 offers more focus on the practical element of programming where students can apply the academic principles learned in the classroom to real world systems. It is a creative subject that enables students to combine problem solving, creative flair and design through the digital landscape. Students will develop:
