Welcome from the Principal

HeadteahcerI'm very proud to be the Principal of Dunraven School.

We were very glad to be designated as a National Teaching School in 2016 as it recognises the effort that the school team puts in to making lessons enjoyable and effective for our young people. Equally, the visit of OFSTED in October 2014 which judged Dunraven as ‘outstanding’ in every category was an important public marker of our on-going journey to achieve ‘Excellence for All’. I’m delighted to have played a part in the school’s success but such recognition is the result of the hard work of our Headteachers, staff and students – supported by their families – over time.  Our next challenge is to ensure that Dunraven maintains these high standards as we aim to become an ‘astounding’ school, working with others as we deliver excellence from Reception all the way through to Year 13.

Dunraven is a 4-18, All Through School. The primary phase will develop year by year until our Year 6 begin in 2019. This structure offers our children - and their families - a unique educational opportunity as well as the chance for the school to create an exciting and enriched learning experience for all its students. The primary team, led by our Head of Primary, Michaela Christian, are very excited to be working with our children and look forward to seeing them develop and grow as learners. Our Head of Secondary, Guy Maidment, will continue to work hard with his team to ensure that we build successfully on those excellent foundations all the way to A level and the life beyond school.

If you come to visit the school, we will offer you a warm welcome and aim to let you see for yourself why we're so proud of our school.

Best wishes on behalf of the students, staff and governors of Dunraven,

David Boyle
Principal

And we must continue to show our young people the strength in standing together; show them how to respect difference and celebrate diversity. My faith is in the next generation, to do better and be better.

We share the view of on the awful events in New Zealand. 'Today shows how easily hate can spread & result in sickening violence. We must continue to educate young people about where those views can lead & be sure that they can identify the dangers of hateful views'.
