GCSE Results 2017 - Fantastic Performance

Posted on: 24 Aug 2017

We are delighted to announce that students at Dunraven have secured a glowing portfolio of grades at GCSE this year, with 80% of students achieving the new Standard Pass in English, 75% in maths, and the combination awarded to a remarkable 70% of our young people. Our commitment to a broad and balanced curriculum has enabled students to demonstrate their talents with some spectacular achievements in a host of subject areas; pass rates for the English Baccalaureate stand at impressive rates of 38% for Standard level, and 33% at Strong Pass.

Particular highlights for subjects include Religious Studies, in which well over half of the cohort achieved the top grades of A or A*, and Spanish where 40% of students gained the highest grades. All three scientific disciplines performed very well, with 100% of Biologists achieving  a minimum of a grade C. Computer Science, one of our newer subjects, saw nearly half of its students reaching the top grades, while performance continues to be strong in the arts subjects with Art and Music once again achieving fantastic grades.

Students have achieved such success through their dedicated and diligent work over their time with us, and Team Dunraven is rightly proud of them. Individual achievements include Natasha Goodman’s 10 A* grades, with the added achievement of two coveted Grade 9s in English and Maths, introduced this year to mark out the very highest performances. Eve Evans-Perks also achieved straight As and A*s. Eve was one of three students to achieve the A^ for exceptional performance in Further Maths, alongside Lola Oliver and Joseph Gatta-Bowden. Evie Berwick, recipient of 15 qualifications achieved at top grades commented “I am inspired by the results of my hard work going forward into my A level study; it’s exciting!”

Dunraven is grateful to the staff team for their dedication to the students in their pursuit of successful outcomes. We are also grateful to the families who have enabled us to support their young people to realising their full potential this year, particularly in meeting the challenge of the new qualifications. We look forward to welcoming those who are returning to our outstanding Sixth Form in September, and wish those who are starting afresh the very best of luck in their continued study.
