General thoughts by the team

I think that the BBC School Report will really benefit us by helping us learn media skills and boost our confidence.

So far my group have progressed quite a lot from when we began at the beginning of term.  We chose a general topic we would investigate for the project, then we put ideas that linked to it and then chose a specific story.

When we finished that we gave each person a role in the production.  I was the presenter, alongside Lianne. We interviewed Mr Boyle and filmed an introduction in the beginning. Chima was the sound man and so was Michael. Simona was the camera (wo)man. We have all enjoyed this project and I hope I get another experience like this.

During this project we have been researching dogs and why they are, or can be, dangerous.

For the first step in this project, we read the newspapers to look at the latest headlines and we saw that there were different types of stories, including sport, dangerous dogs, and the credit crunch.

We thought that dogs stood out the most because over the past years dogs have been killing young and old people, and another dog has recently killed a young girl. They have been used as vicious weapons and used to fight other dogs and people in previous years.

After we found all the information about dogs and why they are/can be dangerous, we drew out a storyboard of what we’re going to do, how the intro will begin, what pictures will come onto the screen, and what we will talk about during the filming.

We organised a phone interview with Battersea Dogs Home, and have filmed some voxpops to collect the opinions of the general public.
