    London Philharmonic Orchestra

Calling creative young musicians for film composition project - last few places!

LPO Soundworks is a platform for creative and talented artists aged 14-19, uniting teenage musicians with young experts from other art-forms.

We’re looking for young instrumental players and composers to take part in our Music & Film Creative Week this Easter.  You should be excited by devising new music, exploring and experimenting, and learning from some of the best in the business.

In this project we will be devising live soundtracks to short films created by talented young filmmakers from BFI's Future Film Academy, which we will perform live at a special film screening on the Clore Ballroom at London's Southbank Centre on Saturday 8 April.

As part of the LPO Soundworks music ensemble, you’ll be inspired by London Philharmonic Orchestra musicians and composers, push your creative ideas to the limit alongside other young players, and collaborate with brilliant filmmakers.

Dates (you need to be free for all of these):

    Wed 29 March - evening

Mon 3 April - all day
Tues 4 April - all day
Wed 5 April - all day
Thurs 6 April - all day

Sat 8 April - all day. Performance 6pm

Participation costs just £15 for the whole project, which includes a ticket to the sold-out LPO concert in the evening of 8 April at Royal Festival Hall.  Free places are available for young people in receipt of Pupil Premium.

    ReachOutRCA Studio Day

A year 10 GCSE Art and Design classaccompanied by Ms. Karen Smith and Ms. Laura Daniel were very fortunate to take part in a ReachOutRCA Studio Day  led by 1st Year MA Painting students,  a workshop at the Royal College of Art on the 23rd January 2017. The workshop gave the students a chance to explore ideas and processes relating to the MA student's working practice and to think imaginatively and critically about the work. The students explored abstraction; key research interests for both the MA artists through hands-on activities, producing work inspired by creative ‘rules’ and experimental approaches to painting, as well as an exciting behind-the-scenes tour of the Painting department. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience and their active enthusiastic participation reflected well on the calibre of Dunraven students. The work they produced is an asset to their GCSE portfolio. The photographs here mirror the success of the day.
